Your Officially Endorsed Council Candidates
I am seeking re-election to continue my efforts to hold down municipal property taxes; to find ways to curb the financial burden on homeowners from commercial tax appeals; and to continue lobbying our state and county for Edison’s fair share of available financial assistance.
During my 3.5 years on the Council, I think we have made significant strides to help Edison become a better place to live and work and a more attractive place for visitors. I am running for Township Council to continue promoting these efforts.
I am running for Council to keep Edison affordable, livable and safe. I believe Town Hall can improve everyone’s quality-of-life by continuing to maintain and upgrade our infrastructure, and by forcing more attention onto neighborhood preservation.
I am running for Council to utilize educational and policy experience. I believe we can use shared services within the town, invest in infrastructure and create more jobs for Edison residents than outsourcing township work.
Protecting Taxpayers. Providing Results.
SAY NO TO SUEZ WATER DEAL – LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!
Advocate for your right to decide and for clean, lead-free water and against huge water and sewer rate hikes.
STOP OVERCROWDING OUR SCHOOLS AND STREETS
Special interests make millions off the town. You foot the bill with higher property taxes.
DEMAND MORE VALUE FOR YOUR TAX DOLLARS
Since 2014, your taxes have gone up 17.1%, but parks, community centers, and quality of life have all declined
PAVE OUR ROADS AND REDUCE TRAFFIC CONGESTION
Pave our roads and address water drainage issues in our neighborhood.
There is a lot of confusion between the 2 teams running in June. Hopefully, this clears it up for you:
“Real” Edison Democrats 2019
The Lombardi, Sendelsky, Shah, Shukla team are NOT supported by the Edison Democratic Party. Lombardi and Sendelsky are incumbents who lost the party’s support after taking several undemocratic positions such as opposing residents’ right to vote on the very unpopular water and sewer privatization deal. They are choosing to run against the endorsed Democrats in a primary despite the unpopular votes they have cast. They have been using the misleading tagline “Real Edison Democrats 2019.” This is designed to confuse Democratic voters into thinking they have the Democratic Party’s support, which they lost because of their actions. They have since adopted Republican campaign tactics including voter suppression and racist campaign flyers, and they have been denounced by the NAACP, ACLU, and many other good government groups around NJ.
Democrats for Edison
The Patil, Coyle, Brescher, Ship-Freeman team. These 4 candidates are the only ones officially endorsed by the Edison Democratic Party and the Middlesex County Democrats, as well as many local community groups. Ajay Patil and Joseph Coyle are incumbents and Richard Brescher is currently on our school board. The team is rounded out by Joyce Ship-Freeman, a long-time educator and Vice President of the Library Board. They are running on a platform that includes:
- Stopping the water and sewer privatization deal and giving residents a voice in the process.
- Putting an end to policies that overcrowd our schools and streets.
- Demanding more value for your tax dollars.
- Paving our roads, and reducing traffic congestion.
